“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.” Psalm 37:5-6
INTRO: Room #7 is called “Light nourishes”. Light makes things grow. It causes flowers to bloom and trees to climb to the sky. Light is responsible for the vast array of delicious fruits and vegetables we enjoy. It nourishes and sustains life. Wander through this room, thinking of the importance of light in our lives every day.
WHAT IT MEANS: Once we are translated by God from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light we must continue to be exposed to the light. We grow into the full expression of who we were created to be only when we are exposed to lots of spiritual light. In Scripture the word “light” is often a metaphor for truth. Light is the knowledge of God. Once we are introduced to the light (new birth) we must live in the light. In other words, we must be exposed to the truth of God’s Word daily. We are called to “let the Word of God dwell in us richly” (Col 3). When we read the Word, hear the preached Word and fellowship with people who live the Word—we grow spiritually; we bloom into who God wants us to be; we sprout up into beautiful people who reflect the character of God. It’s not merely God’s plan for us to admire the light or believe about the light or vote for the light—we are to become light! That’s why Jesus called his disciples the light of the world!
PRAYER: Lord of Light, teach me to be nourished by your light. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Teach me to bask in its brilliance. Teach me to draw from its warmth. Teach me to find the things I need to grow in the light of your Word. May your words be like light, hidden within my heart at all times. I want to be constantly facing you, like a flower leaning towards the sun. Shine upon me with holy light, and may my brightness grow with each passing year.
