INTRO: Welcome to room number one: “Light Is”. Step behind the curtain and find a comfortable place to be still. This room is filled with light, radiant and warm. Soak in the glow. Think about the wonder that light is and what life would be like without it. What is this glow that surrounds us, so constant that we often take it for granted?
WHAT IT MEANS: The Bible describes God as the light of the world. God is light and this light is. Light exists. The Bible begins with “in the beginning God” or we could say “in the beginning Light”. In fact, the second verse of the Bible says, “let there be light!” This God of Light exists and He is the creator of all light. This light has no beginning and no end! He illuminates all things in the universe and his light will never be extinguished. We are created beings who dwell in the universe of this eternal God of Light.
PRAYER: You are light, O God, shining throughout all of the universe. You are the maker of all light. It comes from you, and you say “it is good”. Your light has no beginning and no end. It will never fade. Without you, we would all be in darkness. Here, surrounded by your light, I take a deep breath and make myself still. I stand in wonder and awe.
