One of our longtime Ren members, Kim Hewson, will be traveling to the Dominican Republic later this month for an educational tour and to visit a dear friend and family in the northern region of the D.R. in a small, impoverished community near Cabarete. This friend lives and works among the people as their pastor with his wife, and Kim has gotten to know some of the neighbors and their children.
Many kids have no shoes or socks, and the constant wear and tear on their feet causes abrasions and subsequent infections and pain. Kim wants to bring them some gently used sneakers and shoes and socks for distribution there. Also, things like first aid ointment, Band-Aids and soap can be helpful to address minor medical issues. We will have an area where you can drop off any donations each Sunday up to July 24th on the first floor near the cafe. The small gesture of sharing these items can have a big impact on all involved as we share from a place of abundance and love.
