With so many different people coming to Ren each week, one of my greatest concerns is how to unite everyone and develop relationships. I am constantly meeting with people to try to get to know everyone and hear your stories. If you are attending and you have not really met me I would love to get together with you. Sometimes people think I'm too busy to meet with them but honestly this is what I do. A huge part of my ministry is just meeting with people.
But as much as I personally want to get to know everyone it's even more important that you get to know one another. I believe the Sunday gatherings are deeply spiritual and God meets us and speaks to us each week, but attending on Sundays is not enough. As followers of Christ we are called to something much deeper than just being a "Sunday Christian". We are called to devote ourselves to one another and to be a family. A healthy family spends quality time with one another and makes sacrificial effort to understand and support one another. Amen?
Because Ren is such a mosaic of different kinds of people it makes building relationships more challenging. It's not a church full of people just like you. In other words, people at Ren are not all people of your ethnicity or subculture or similar denominational background. This means we have to work a little harder to break down barriers and cross over into uncomfortable places relationally. I urge us to make the effort. What God is building at Ren is really special. He is raising us up as an example of the sort of unity that God's people will enjoy in eternity. There will be no segregation in heaven.
