Over the last week the ministers, staff and elders have been reviewing the service time surveys and trying to decide what is best. Suffice to say, even with the survey results, the decision was not clear. It seems like any option we choose will be less than ideal for certain segments of people in the community. But after much thought the option of 10 am (full kids) and 11:30 am (no kids) was the winner. Services would be shorter (75 mins) so that if you have been attending the 11:15 you’d get out the same time you’ve been getting out. The primary reason for changing the times was mainly to make it easier for families who were really struggling to make the early 9am time. To those who enjoy the 9am and are disappointed I’m sorry. We really wrestled with this and tried to do what would be the best for as many as possible.
That said, we aren’t attached to anything. We will begin the new times starting the second Sunday in February (the 11th) and will try it for 3 weeks and then assess. For those who do not utilize kids ministry you are more than welcome to attend the 10am of course but for those who have no preference please come to the 11:30 to make more room at the earlier service. Lastly, since our numbers go down in the summer, we are also considering the idea of doing just one service at 10:30 am in June-August. That’s not definite but just keep that in mind.
